What To Do With Worry

The problem with worrying about things is that small worries grow into big worries, and eventually turn into anxiety. The cure is to first identify what the worries are, and then come up with a plan of action. Talking things out with a good friend when you're feeling anxious about something can help to identify the cause of worry, and come up with a plan of action. Now, there are just some things that are out of our control. We tend to worry about these things the most. These are the times that we need to recognize that there is nothing we can do, and just let go. Last night at church, we sang an old song, "When I Lay My Burdens Down" and it made me think about what a relief it is to be able to "lay my burdens down" and trust that God will work everything out. If we pray about the things that are out of our control, and believe that God will work it out, then we can have peace about the situation.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6, NIV)
